The Window Cleaning Tech's Day in Route Order: Working the Job List Top to Bottom

The best window cleaning days have no decisions in them. The tech finishes a house, looks at the next job, drives there and starts again. No guessing which house is closer, no calling the office to ask what is next, no doubling back across town because the paper sheet was in the wrong order. That is what a job list in route order gives you.

From Login to the First Job

Signing in is covered in Logging In to the Window Cleaning App: Company Login Plus a Personal PIN. The moment the PIN goes in, the tech sees their own list for today.

The list is not every job the company has today. It is the jobs assigned to that tech's van, in the order the office set. Van 1 might have eight houses on the west side. Van 2 might have twenty-two storefronts along two commercial streets. The owner might have two first cleans and a hard-water job. Each person sees their own work and nothing else.

Where the Order Comes From

The order is set on the dispatch board in the office. Jobs that came due on the Waiting List get assigned to a van and a day, and then the office puts them in order one of two ways:

Whichever way the office sets it, the phone shows the same order. The board and the tech's list are one list, not two copies that drift apart.

Working the List

The tech's rhythm is simple. Look at the top job. Tap the navigation button to get directions. Read the card in the driveway: window count, stories, sides, extras, access notes. Tap Start. Clean. Take the after photos. Tap Complete. The next job is now at the top.

Reading the card before getting out of the van matters more than it sounds. A 2-story inside-and-outside job with screens is a very different setup from a 1-story outside-only job. Knowing which one it is before the doors open decides which ladder comes off the rack and whether the tech knocks first. Window Count, Stories, Sides and Extras: Reading Every Job Card in the Window Cleaning App covers the card line by line.

When the Office Moves a Job

Plans change during the day. A homeowner texts the office that they will not be home for the inside until after lunch. A storefront manager asks for the crew to come back after a delivery truck leaves. A new customer wants a quick outside clean while the van is nearby.

The office makes those changes on the dispatch board, and the tech's list follows. A job moved to later shows up later. A job moved to another van disappears from this tech's list and appears on the other one. A job added to today shows up in its spot. The tech does not need a phone call to know the plan changed, though a quick heads-up from the office is still good manners when it is a big change.

This is where crew GPS helps the office. Before adding a job, the office can look at the map and see which van is closest, instead of guessing from memory where everybody is.

Going Out of Order

Sometimes the tech has a good reason to skip ahead. The next house has a closed gate and nobody answering, but the one after it is right across the street. A sprinkler is running on the side of a house, so the tech does the next job first and comes back.

That is fine. The order is a plan, not a rule. The tech can work the jobs that make sense, and the buttons keep the office informed: the office sees which jobs are started, which are completed and which are skipped, regardless of the order they happened in. What the tech should not do is quietly leave a job open at the end of the day. If it did not get done, tap Skip and say why.

Why Route Order Beats a Paper List

A paper list is in the right order when it is printed and wrong by the first phone call of the day. It cannot follow a moved job, it cannot show a new one, and it cannot tell the office what is done. A list on the phone in route order does all three, and it gets the van to more driveways before the light goes.

Next in this series is the navigation button itself. For the rest of the tech's day, start at the WindowBossPro window cleaning app page.

Same Order on the Board and the Phone

WindowBossPro routes each van by hand or Closest First / Furthest First from the shop, and every tech's phone shows their jobs in that order.
